From the Superintendent
Superintendent's Letter

Dear WSESU families, staff, and community members,
As I enter my fifth year as Superintendent of Windsor Southeast Supervisory Union, I am deeply grateful for the unwavering support of our communities. Even as we navigate state-level education changes and systemic unknowns, the strength of our schools remains rooted in our shared commitment to our children. Serving in this role is a privilege, and I look forward to partnering with our students, staff, and families for another impactful year.
During the 2025–2026 school year, we celebrated five years of putting our strategic plan into action. Its core pillars, Student Success and Engagement, Culture and Student Wellness, and Information and Communication, remained our guiding compass as we worked to achieve our shared vision: to engage hearts and minds for a limitless future. This ongoing commitment ensured our schools remained places where students thrived, staff found deep purpose, and our entire community took pride in the work.
Our unifying theme for 2025-2026 was Stronger Together. In a time when the broader world felt uncertain, one truth remained clear, our greatest strength comes from our connections. We leaned on this theme to support one another, our students, and our goals.
In 2025-2026, we set new goals that strengthened both our academic outcomes and our school culture. We remained firmly committed to fostering leadership across our district, empowering both our students and staff, while making steady progress toward our strategic priorities.
We completed our third year of implementing our reading and math curricula: Amplify CKLA for reading in grades K–5 and Eureka Math² for math in grades K–8. Our dedicated teachers have continued to deepen their mastery of these programs, delivering creative, engaging lessons that captivate student interest and drive steady academic growth across our classrooms.
Middle and high school faculty continued their work defining proficiencies and aligning assessments. High school teachers mapped out clear graduation pathways. By directly aligning high school coursework with state standards, we are ensuring our students stay on track for long-term success.
Thanks to these targeted efforts, we saw encouraging growth in our Winter 2026 STAR and DIBELS assessment results for many students. This steady progress is a direct result of our hard-working students, outstanding educators, and supportive community.
At the state level, Act 170 introduced meaningful updates to how Vermont funds and structures public education. Our leadership and school boards are actively engaged in navigating this legislation, ensuring that our district's values and student needs remain at the forefront of every transition decision.
The FY28 budget reflects our continued strategic focus - prioritizing student success and high-quality instruction while maintaining strict fiscal alignment and transparency for our taxpayers.
As we move through the 2026-2027 school year, we extend our heartfelt thanks to our educators, families, and community partners. Your collaboration makes it possible for our students to learn, grow, and thrive every single day.
